ZIMBABWE Prisons and Correctional Service netball team, Tenax Queens, had a long and fruitful journey as it had four matches lined up in the National Super League. The Mutare-based side has been doing very well since its promotion into the highly competitive league about a decade ago.
Prison Girls hosted Harare-based Beta Queens last Saturday and they won the match 40-28. They then travelled to Gweru were they thrashed the hosting team Congolg Queens 36-31.
Following their historic 36-31 win over arch rivals, Congold Queens, Tenax Queens continued with their giant killing act and went on to beat ZPC Hwange 32-23 in their own back yard.
They went on to play against another Hwange-based side, Hwange Colliery and they were narrowly edged 27-28.
Tenax Queens are geared up to finish the race on top unlike last season where they finished on third position after failing to fulfil some of their fixtures.
Tenax gaffer, Naftali Nyanguru, was happy with the outcome though he pointed out that they had a busy and tiring schedule.
”I am happy with the results. The girls put they were equal to the task in all the four matches. The trip itself was tiring and I felt sorry for my girls as I used the same players throughout.”
Tenax Queens missed the services of their shooter, Tafadzwa Mavango. and centre, Pauline Mthandwa who were called up for national duty.
Mavango has been doing very well for the Prison Girls and is part of the national U-20 team.
