Tenax Queens have been handed a tricky fixture in their opening 2015 Netball Super League match as they have to travel to Harare for a date with the defending Champions Nehanda Nyakasikana this weekend. Nehanda are the defending champions and will have to fight to retain the championship this season. Tenax Queens, on the other hand, will meet their nemesis Nehanda who have not been beaten at home or away last season.
However, after finishing on fourth position, the Mutare outfit have now shifted their focus on making an impact and hope to get the championship title.
“Our aim this season is to get the championship. I know it will not be so easy but we are ready for the battle,” said one of the coaches Ngoni Bhasvi.
Last year The Prison girls, as Tenax are known, won 33 games and lost only three matches and four of their losses were walkovers after they failed to travel.
“Last year we only lost three games against ZDF and two against Nehanda. We failed to fulfil four of our games because most of our players were undertaking a 33 day training course and the games were declared walkover.
“This time we are geared up and back with a bang. Last year again we were affected greatly by lack of sponsorship but this year we hope for a change as we were told there is a sports fund from The Zimbabwe Prison and Correctional Services that we also stand to benefit from,” he said.
Tenax Queens have also been active on the market beefing up their squad and so far they have been joined by four players, one from Glow and three from Warthog.
“We will announce the names as soon as we are done with the signings,” said Tenax Gaffer.
