adminCoaches’ chairman, Richmore Murape and former development officer for the International Tennis Federation Prince Madema conducted the course, which was attended by more than 20 coaches from around the province.
Some of the coaches who attended the workshop include Farai Shoniwa, veteran Albert Nhamoyebonde, Terrence Mazungaire, Martin Dzuwa and Vova Chikanda.
Madema said most sporting disciplines are revolutionising and becoming more scientific hence the need for play to change too.
This, Madema said, also meant that coaches need to be constantly updated in order for them to impart the knowledge to the young players.
“There is revolution in tennis, it has become more scientific and there is need for these coaches to move with times in terms of play and equipment.
“Coaches need to move forward hence the need for a platform on where to start from,” said Madema.
Madema is a former provincial coach for Manicaland before he moved to Botswana where he worked as the national junior development officer director under the Botswana Tennis Association.
Cornwell Mutetwa who is the HMTB chairman said they are happy with the workshop which he reckoned was “long overdue’’.
