Outgoing vice president, Bhunu, was nominated for the president’s post alongside Tanya Chinamo and is likely to run unopposed as Chinamo has indicated that he will not be contesting due to other commitments.

Martin will not be running for re-election as she has completed her two, three-year terms of office and will be stepping down, leaving Bhunu as the favourite to take over as the national association’s president.

Bhunu said he accepted his nomination and will be vying for the president’s post.
He was also nominated for the vice president position together with Chinamo and Lock.

Lock was also nominated for the executive committee together with Beverly De Souza, Zebedia Mawisire, Kudakwashe Muhwandagara, Rutendo Chabururuka, Vincent Nyatoti, Chris Munyukwa and Martin Dzuwa. They will be vying for the four executive posts.

The selector’s committee led by Chinamo still has one more term left.

TZ currently has five active provinces — Harare, Bulawayo, Midlands, Masvingo and Manicaland.
The provincial representative will vote for the president and vice president while for the committee members all affiliates are allowed to vote, these include schools, coaches and wheelchair tennis.

Besides elections, other issues to be discussed are the president’s report including audited accounts, consideration of application for affiliation if there are any provinces that want to affiliate to the national association besides the five that are already active and to agree on the affiliation fee for members and associates.

The national association will also appoint auditors during today’s meeting.
