HUNDREDS of athletes from the country’s 36 tertiary institutions will descend on Bulawayo today for the 16th edition of the Zimbabwe Tertiary Institutions Sports Union games. The week-long sports jamboree will be officially opened by Sports and Recreation Commission acting director-general Joseph Muchechetere. Tsitsi Kufa, the marketing officer of ZTISU said this year’s games will run under the theme “Unlocking talent through sport. “The games will kick off with mainstream athletics at White City Stadium and Paralympic Games will be held on Sunday,” said Kufa.
“This year’s 16th edition of tertiary students’ games and we will combine sports for the physically challenged.
“Three associations, the Zimbabwe Teachers Colleges Sports Association, Technical Education Sports Association in Zimbabwe and Zimbabwe University Sports Association have all brought their athletes who are geared up to participate.” She said 36 tertiary institutions from all over the country are represented at the tournament.
