WARRIORS and Amazulu forward Thando Ngwenya is expected to start full training with Usuthu next week.

He sustained an ankle injury which sidelined him for four weeks.

Ngwenya was enjoying a fine run in the Betway Premiership in South Africa where he has scored four times in eight games.

The 22-year-old was on target in his last league match against Kaizer Chiefs in a fixture that ended in a 1-1 draw.

He sustained the injury while on national duty and his return could inject life to Amazulu as well as the Warriors, who are expected to start their final AFCON preparations next month.

The former FC Platinum hitman told H-Metro that he is feeling great as he nears his return.

“I’m feeling great, my ankle is responding very well. So, now, I’m looking forward to being around the rest of the team again soon, to come back to do what I love to do.

“It’s been too long.

“I have individual targets and the only way I can reach those goals is to try as much as possible to be on the field of play every game.

“This is just a minor setback and it has helped in reminding me the importance of time and I just can’t wait to help my team to achieve its objectives.”

Ngwenya was also in the Castle Lager Premiership Golden Boot race when he left during the mid-season break after scoring nine times.

Amazulu are also said to be eyeing Highlanders midfielder Mason Mushore and Takunda Benhura of Ngezi Platinum Stars.
