A HARARE woman has filed adultery damages against her husband’s lover forUS$60 000.
Christine Meda feels Milicent Juliet Matshazi of Bulawayo has destroyed her marriage of 13 years after she sired a child with her husband Talent Nyazaya.
According to the documents in H-Metro’s possession, Talent and Christine were married on December 21, 2012, in terms of the Marriages Act (Chapter 5:17).
The case has been filed at the High Court under case ) No. HCHF 2523/24.
Christine has also attached some pictures of Talent and Millicent and some romantic chats in a14-page document, which she claims is evidence they had sexual intercourse.
Christine and her husband have since stopped having sex amid the strain which was brought by this case.
There is also an attachment of a picture of Millicent’s car parked at her house as evidence.
Christine and Talent’s marriage still subsists.
However, Talent has evicted Christine from their bedroom and has filed for divorce.
According to the court papers, Millicent was fully aware of the fact that she was gettinginvolved in an adulterous relationship with Talent.
The marriage was blessed with two children.
According to the court documents Millicent has been having an adulterous affair with Talent since November 2022.
The documents claim Millicent has been seen on several occasions with Christine’s husband in compromising situations.
It is even claimed Christine confronted Millicent on a number of occasions and she denied the affair despite the existence of evidence in the form of WhatsApp pictures and intimate correspondence.
At one point, Talent lied that he was going to attend a workshop when in actual fact he was going to meet Millicent.
The truth later came out when his boss told his wife that the company was not holding any workshops.
In December 2023, according to the court documents, Millicent called Christine and apologised for snatching her husband.
Christine also found out that Millicent fell pregnant and the child was born around June 2024.
Talent went on to put the child on the family’s medical aid scheme.
In early June last year, Christine claims Millicent even had the audacity to park her car in theyard of their matrimonial home.
Christine claims her husband then evicted her from their matrimonial bedroom and locked it so that she doesn’t have access to that room.
She is now sleeping in the spare bedroom.
To, aggravate the situation, Talent has since filed for divorce and he is claiming that he has lost love and affection for Christine.
Christine says she has been subjected to embarrassment, insults and indignity as a result of Millicent’s immoral behaviour and this has caused her a lot of suffering, emotional strain, trauma, heartbreak and mental distress.
She wants Millicent to pay US$60 000 in adultery damages.
She is claiming US$30 000 for contumelia and US$30 000 for loss of consortium.
However, Millicent, through her defence counsel, is raising some objections to the claimsby Christine.
She has also questioned the money being demanded.
