THE weekend is shaping up to be a busy one for entertainment lovers, with Mutare and surrounding areas offering a solid mix of live music, DJs, themed parties and family-friendly activities. From laid-back grooves and old-school anthems to high-energy performances and summer-themed events, there is something for different tastes. Several popular entertainment spots have lined up familiar names from the local music scene, while others are keeping things relaxed with jazz and easy-listening sessions. Whether you are looking for a night of dancing, a social outing with friends or a Sunday wind-down, there is plenty to choose from across the city and beyond.
Villa Spot
Dangamvura’s entertainment spot has a strong Saturday programme featuring Sugar Sugar of the Mudododo fame, Chillmaster, Bagga, Tokolosh, Herman and MC Njelele. The event, dubbed Dvhera Massive Volume 2, also comes with activities including Colour Splash, Drip Check, Face Painting, a Jumping Castle, Swimming Castle and Quad Biking. It promises to be more than just a music event, with entertainment for people looking for a full day out.
Chitsa Bar and Liquids
The joint at Boka Business Centre in Dangamvura has a full weekend of music lined up, with a different sound each day. Friday starts with Groovy Friday, setting the pace with laid-back grooves and a mix of good, danceable vibes as patrons ease into the weekend. Saturday brings Sumer Blaze Saturday, with DJ Stixxie and Popinjo behind the decks. The two will keep the music flowing and the dancefloor moving. They return on Sunday alongside other selected DJs for Nostalgic Sunday, going back to anthems, slow jams and dancefloor favourites that continue to connect with music lovers.
Fourth Street Lounge
The venue is bringing together a busy line-up featuring Zim-dancehall sensation, Seh Calaz, Godfather Templeman, Tanaman and Voltz. They will be backed by local disc jockeys, DJs Irvinix, Lion, Bossa, Stallione, Bento and Easy, giving patrons a combination of live performances and DJ sets throughout the event.
Donhodzo
About 18km along Wedza Road, the joint will host Summer Blaze on Saturday. The event is being hosted by Vibe Nation, with music provided by AJ DJ. It offers another option for those looking to spend Saturday outside the city centre while enjoying a summer-themed party atmosphere.
Gullivers
Apple D and Nasty are lined up for Friday and Saturday at the popular entertainment spot situated opposite Megawatt Building. There will also be an Old School Music Night with DJ Ranga T, giving lovers of classic sounds a chance to revisit familiar favourites.
Mutare Bar
The city-centre joint, situated adjacent to the old Chikanga Rank, will host Zincyard and Smokes on Friday and Saturday for a show dubbed Boys Weekend Out. The two performers are expected to bring their distinctive energy, with patrons getting a weekend built around music, entertainment and socialising.
Platinum Nite Club
The Muchena Business Centre-based spot in Penhalonga is preparing for a Massive Ladies Night headlined by Zincyard and Smokes. Resident DJ Taps will also be behind the decks, adding party anthems to the evening and keeping the music going between the headline performances.
Bistro
The new uptown location continues to offer a more relaxed weekend experience. Sunday is the highlight, with a local jazz group taking to the stage. The live performance provides an opportunity to unwind with smooth sounds, good company and a more laid-back setting after a busy weekend.
Plus 44 Connect, Dora
DJ Zincyard will headline proceedings at the Dora entertainment spot, bringing his energetic selections to the venue. His appearance is expected to add movement to the weekend as music lovers gather for an afternoon and evening of beats and socialising. With music ranging from jazz and old-school classics to contemporary party sounds, the weekend offers plenty of ways to get out, meet people and enjoy the entertainment scene.
