THE BIG THREE’S UNIQUE FEATURE

THE country’s biggest clubs − Dynamos, Highlanders, and CAPS United − are all under the guidance of foreign coaches, which is the first time this has happened in the history of the Big Three.

DeMbare and Makepekepe have Zambian coaches Kelvin Kaindu and Ian Bakala while Bosso have brought back Dutchman Hendricks Pieter De Jongh.

All the Big Three clubs are in a tough battle against relegation and could even fall as a bloc in the event that results do not go their way or the results favour the other clubs trapped in the battle against the dreaded chop.

They all won at the weekend with CAPS United the most impressive of the three after their 1-0 victory over four-time champions FC Platinum at Mandava.

Dynamos, who have found the winning touch under Kaindu and look a completely different side to the one which was struggling for a win at the start of the season, edged Greenfuel 2-0 at Rufaro.

De Jongh also started his latest romance with Bosso in style with a 2-1 away win in the Lowveld.

It has been a unique season which could also see all members of the Big Three end in the top eight on the final table.

All the substantive coaches who have taken charge of Bosso this season have been foreigners.

The Glamour Boys passed the torch to Kaindu last month, who was dismissed by Bosso two months ago.

Dynamos had previously gambled on Lloyd Chigowe and Saul Chaminuka, who appeared clueless during their time in charge of the club.

Since Kaindu’s appointment, the Glamour Boys have registered five wins in all competitions, and he has injected life into a team that many had counted out.

Dynamos are now four points away from safety with eight games remaining.

Kaindu will face the mother of all tests as Dynamos coach when they meet Scottland on Saturday, a fixture that might have serious consequences should they lose the game.

Bakala’s CAPS United host ZPC Kariba on Sunday at Rufaro.

CAPS United are just three points above the relegation zone and know what it means if they fail to register maximum points.

Bosso are also in the relegation conversation, four points above the danger zone, and host a stubborn Yadah side who have mastered the art of surviving relegation in the final fixtures of the campaign.

The two sides are separated by four points.
