Jacob was about to die and he wanted to bless the sons of Joseph. He put his right hand on Ephraim the second born, and his left hand on Manasseh the first born.
Joseph told his father he had crossed hands, but the father refused and said to let it be like that. When it comes to the issues of the blessing, it’s a serious thing.
Genesis 27 verse 41
So Esau hated Jacob because of the blessing with which the father blessed him, and Esau said in his heart, “The days of mourning for my father are at hand; the I will kill my brother Jacob.”
Esau hated his brother for the blessing the father pronounced upon him. Some of you may think he wanted to kill him because he had received tangible wealth but he just received something that was invisible and yet the brother wanted to kill him for that. Why? Because they understand the depth of the blessing. They understand the dimensions released.
In Genesis 27 the father said, “I have given him everything”. Scriptures says, “he kissed him . . . he said surely you smell the smell of my son is like the smell of a field which the Lord has blessed therefore may
God give you the dew of heaven the fatness of the earth plenty of grain, . . .” The father blessed him with the dew of heaven, fatness of the earth, plenty of grain but if you would go to Jacob and ask to see the grain his father is saying he has blessed him with he would not show you anything physical.
There was nothing tangible that he was carrying. It was all in the blessing. So, they knew that everything that they needed in life is put in the blessing.
All the things that people are looking for on earth are all in the blessing. Once you get the blessing of God, you get all these things very easily and your life starts to smell like a field that the Lord has blessed. Some failures come simply because you don’t smell like a field that God has blessed.
