The Lord will keep you safe from every evil work

“The Lord will keep me safe from every evil work and will give me salvation in His kingdom in heaven. To Him be glory forever and ever. Amen.” — 2 Timothy 4:18.

Beloved, these words were not spoken by a man living in comfort. They were written by the Apostle Paul from a prison cell. He was surrounded by opposition, abandoned by people he trusted and facing death. Yet Paul did not say, “I hope I survive,” or “I will fight my way out.” He said, “The Lord will keep me safe from every evil work.”

Paul understood something powerful: when God is your defender, your situation does not define your outcome. Your confidence is not in what you see, but in who fights for you.

As we begin this year and declare our January themeGod will fight your battles in 2026 we are not making a motivational statement.

We are making a biblical declaration. The same God who stood with Paul in prison is the same God who stood with Moses before Pharaoh.

When God sent Moses to Egypt, Moses did not go as a warrior with weapons.

He went as a servant with a word from God. Yet the moment God’s power was revealed, opposition rose.

Pharaoh summoned his magicians, traditionally known as Jannes and Jambres. These men stood as representatives of counterfeit power. Every time Moses demonstrated God’s authority, they attempted to imitate it.

When Aaron’s rod became a serpent, they produced serpents. When water turned to blood, they tried to do the same. Their goal was simple: to make it appear that what God was doing was nothing special.

But there is a lesson here for us in 2026.

Not every challenge is meant to defeat you; some are meant to expose the difference between real power and false power.

Jannes and Jambres could imitate, but they could not dominate. They could copy signs, but they could not command creation. And there came a moment when they reached their limit.

When the plague of gnats came, they tried and failed, and they were forced to admit, “This is the finger of God.”

Church, hear this clearly: every enemy you face has a limit. Every evil work assigned against your life has a boundary.

God may allow resistance, but He never surrenders control.

In 2026, opposition will not stop you, delay will not deny you and counterfeit power will not outlast divine authority.

The battle is not proof that God has left you, it is often proof that God is at work.

Paul understood this truth. He said the Lord would keep him safe from every evil work, not by removing him from every trial, but by preserving his faith, his purpose and his future.

Just like Moses, Paul’s victory was not in avoiding conflict, but in knowing that God was fighting on his behalf.

Pharaoh had magicians, but Moses had God. Paul had enemies, but God had already secured his ending.

Some of us entered 2026 carrying battles from last year – family battles, health battles, financial battles and spiritual battles.

But the Word of the Lord today is this: God fights progressively, not prematurely.

He defeated Pharaoh plague by plague so His glory could be undeniable. He strengthened Paul day by day so his testimony would be eternal.

And He will fight for you step by step until His purpose is fulfilled.

Jannes and Jambres were exposed. Pharaoh was defeated. Israel was delivered. Paul was preserved, not just for this life, but for the kingdom of heaven.

That is why Paul ends in worship: “To Him be glory forever and ever.” When God fights your battles, He gets the glory, and you receive the victory.

As we stand in January and look ahead into 2026, we declare with confidence: the Lord will keep us safe from every evil work. He will silence every counterfeit voice. He will expose every hidden attack.

He will bring us safely into everything He has promised. We will not fight alone. We will not fall. We will not be defeated.

Lift your voice and say it with faith:

God will fight my battles in 2026.

The Lord is my defender.

My victory is secure.

To Him be glory forever and ever.

So be it. Amen.
