The ‘Ndoro’ prayer

MOTHER to Warriors footie star, Tendai a?Firea? Ndoro, Christina, on Thursday took time to go for prayers at Guta RaMwari on behalf of her son and the entire Warriors setup ahead of their make or break Afcon tournament opener against Algeria on Sunday.

The prayerful woman told B Metro Sport that while she was feeling on top of the world that her son was representing the nation at Africaas biggest soccer extravaganza, all that Ndoro and his teammates needed were powerful prayers.

a?I would have loved to go to Gabon and give Tendai and his teammates some emotional support. However, I could not. But as I speak to you Iam about to go for prayers. Iam going to pray for my son and the entire Warriors team.

They need guidance and protection,a? said Christina who is yet to develop nerves of watching her sonas live matches on television.

a?I usually donat watch my sonas live matches for I will be in prayer, asking for divine intervention. I only dash to the lounge room to celebrate his goals and go back to pray because a lot of things happen in the field of play. I will also be singing Guta RaMwari a?s hymn song, Musha Wakanaka,a? she said.

She said Ndoroas goal scoring form that has seen him become a darling with Orlando Pirates followers didnat take her by surprise as her son emerged from her womb with a great football talent.

Fire recently elevated himself to the second quickest player to reach double figures in the history of the modern day Absa Premiership.

This came after reaching 11 league goals in as many league starts.

Zambian forward Chris Katongo remains the fastest player to touch the 10 goals mark which he did during the 2006-07 season when he slammed 10 in the first 10 league games of that season in the colours of Jomo Cosmos.

Although Katongo only played half of that campaign before leaving for Brondby IF in Denmark in January 2007, his total of 15 goals from 15 league starts was enough to hand him the top goal scorer award.
