GENESIS 24:57-61

(57) And they said, We will call the damsel, and enquire at her mouth. (58) And they called Rebekah, and said unto her, Wilt thou go with this man? And she said, I will go.

(59) And they sent away Rebekah their sister, and her nurse, and Abraham’s servant, and his men.

(60)Z And they blessed Rebekah, and said unto her, Thou art our sister, be thou the mother of thousands of millions, and let thy seed possess the gate of those which hate them.

(61) And Rebekah arose, and her damsels, and they rode upon the camels, and followed the man: and the servant took Rebekah, and went his way.

Abraham did not want his son to marry an unbeliever, no matter how pretty those unbelieving girls were.

Abraham did not want his son connected with that, and so he had to make decision on who his son would marry.

Abraham sent Eliezer to look for a girl suitable to be Isaac’s wife.

He had to make a decision on who he would send to select this bride for Isaac.

And he decided that Eliezer was the right one, because he had found Eliezer a trustworthy, loyal and upright servant.

Eliezer met the requirements of Abraham.

Eliezer never boasted about himself, but he only spoke of his master, and of his master’s wealth, and that his master had a son who was going to fall heir to everything the master had.

The Angel of the Lord went before Eliezer.

He got to the well and prayed that the girl who would give his camels water after he asked her for water for himself would be the girl that God had chosen to be Isaac’s wife.

When Rebekah came and did according to the prayer of Eleazar, she went home with this stranger.

When the parents and siblings of Rebekah were told about the errand of Abraham’s servant, they agreed that she could go and be Isaac’s wife.

When all was said and done, the time for decision on whether she could go immediately with Eliezer or stay behind a few days came.

They asked Rebekah to decide. She said she would immediately go.

Her decision was clear-cut.

She went with a man she did not know, to a land she did not know, to be married by a man she did not know.

But in all that, she made a decision; a hard decision.

All of us are called to make a decision, one way or another.

The decision has to be decisive.

When and who to marry is a decision you must make.

Whether to start a business or not, is a decision you have to make.

We all decide which place we want to stay or lifestyle we want to live.

Our lives consist of decisions we make.

The husband or wife you have is your decision.

The church you go to is your decision.

You are what you are by your decisions.

As you decided to be where you are, so are you able to decide to leave where you are.

What you want to be or not to be all lay in your power to decide.

Decisions have to be made very fast.

One time a woman had two men that she thought she loved, and she did not know which one to marry.

She took a while to decide who she would marry, and she lost both of them.

You have to make decisions.

There is a time where we cannot be neutral.

God wants us to make our decisions.

Rebekah said she would immediately go.

Her decision was quickly made.

She knew that something was leading her, and she knew that It was God.

She wanted to go quickly.

Why would she delay by 10 days, becoming Isaac’s wife?

Why would she decide to delay her blessing?

Do not let people decide your destiny for you.

When Naomi asked Ruth to return to her home country, Ruth said, “I will go where you go. Your people will be my people. Your God will be my God. Where you live, I will live. Where you die, I will die. And where you are buried, I will be buried.”

She had to either go back or go forward.

Make a clear-cut decision.

You have a choice to go back or go forward. Each decision has consequences. Rebekah’s decision made her a mother of Israel.

Ruth’s decision made her the wife of Boaz, and she became the great grandmother of Jesus.

It is only in a few exceptional situations where you cannot make a choice.

You are what you are by your decisions.

Your decision today has a bearing on your tomorrow.

That is the power of decision.
