EPWORTH based gospel group The Redeemed has released their third album “Zvaringana”, amid a myriad of challenges.
The 10-male member gospel outfit which released its debut album in 2011 has its roots entrenched in the Methodist Church in Zimbabwe, Epworth Circuit. Despite the financial challenges they have been facing since 2011,the group has persevered.
The group’s 2011 album was an eight Long Play titled “Chishamiso”.

Their second titled “Jesu Ari Mufudzi” was then recorded and released a year later.
Group spokesperson, Theseus Mauruki Shambare told The Sunday Mail Religion that their latest offering “Zvaringana” which can be translated as “Enough”, marks the end of their perennial woes.
“In our musical journey so far, we have leant that as Christians, we have to make solid declarations like what we did in our situation as the group.
“It took us three years to break this hiatus which almost shoved us off the limelight and now this third album has also attested our divine calling,” he said.
“After recording our first two album, we almost threw in the towel. It was difficult,” he recalled.
“We ended up chann elling the little resources that we had and was meant for our families towards the sustenance of group programs. God has manifested himself with ‘Zvaringana’. We have seen His hand in this project and now we are certain that the work that we are doing is not ours. God himself has sent us,” narrated Shambare.
He said the group started as a praise and worship team but later transformed into a professional gospel group.
“We started as a praise and worship team and due to encouragement and support from church members, we ended up recording our debut album ‘Jesu Ari Mufudzi’ in 2011,” he said.
Their albums contain songs from both the Methodist hymn books as well as their own compositions.
“As a musical group from the church, we take some of our songs from the hymn book but we fuse them with original songs that we compose,” he said.
Their latest album features songs like “Mumwe Mukanazve”, “Ndasunugurwa”, and “Vazhinhi vanayo nhaka”, among others tracks. Shambare also lamented on the feeble airplay that his group has been receiving since entering the music industry.
“I think ‘Zvaringana” will mark the end of our airplay dearth,” he said confidently.
The Redeemed recently had the opportunity to perform live on Star FM three times on the program Clash of the Choirs.
