The return of Joey Antipas

AFTER going on a month-long sabbatical, Joey Antipas feels he has recharged his batteries and is ready to take the new challenge as a revitalised man.
Antipas jumped the ship from the sinking Motor Action in September but the veteran coach has bounced back into mainstream football as the coach at Chicken Inn where he replaced Mandla Mpofu.

Antipas felt his mission to save Motor Action was not working despite the coach bringing in a youthful brigade during the second half of the season.

But once a football man, always a football man.
And Antipas is back in the dressing room and will be leading the Gamecocks when they take on Monomotapa in a Castle Lager Premiership match at Gwanzura tomorrow.

At Chicken Inn, Antipas has been reunited with former Motor Action players Clement Matawu and Dylan Chivandire who joined the club in mid-season.

“It feels good to be back in the game.
“I am now in a different town with a different team but football is the same,” said Antipas.
He said he had taken a deserved rest from football until he got the offer from Chicken Inn.

“During my break I was resting.
“This was a chance to recharge my batteries and right now I feel revitalised,” said Antipas.
The former Shooting Stars and Buymore coach said he has not lost touch with football during his break.
He is also hopeful that Chicken Inn will finish in a respectable position this season.

“Judging by the way the guys have been responding at training, I believe we have a good team.
“Although there is need for the boys and change their attitude so that their confidence is brought back.”
Before Mpofu and Mkhupali Masuku’s resignation this week, Chicken Inn had lost their previous three matches to Hwange and back-to-back defeats to CAPS United.

Things are not looking rosy at Monomotapa either as morale is low at the club and they have failed to win their last five matches.
Even talismanic Monoz midfielder, Ronald Chitiyo has admitted that it will be an uphill struggle for them to survive relegation this season.
