Award-winning gospel group, The Unveiled, has elevated their sound with their latest single, Zvichaita Chete. Known for their angelic voices and passion for impacting lives through music, the group of God-fearing, gifted young artistes continues to make waves on the local gospel scene.

Released in February, the track featuring Joshua Mtima has resonated with thousands of fans because of its touching lyrics. Inspired by the struggle of unfulfilled New Year’s resolutions, the song encourages listeners to persevere, placing God at the centre of achieving goals.

Ashley Mapfumo, a member of the group, explained the creative process: “The beat was made by Manuchie, a Zim-based producer. It also has some live guitar from our guitarist, Arnold Aminu and keys from Manuchie. We recorded some parts of the song during our rehearsals, and Mr Mtima uploaded it on Suno to hear how AI would interpret the song.

“We picked out a few ideas that AI gave to us in terms of harmonies, but the final song was not recorded using AI,” he said.

Incorporating AI in music production is becoming a global trend. Producers and artistes use software such as Suno AI, Beatoven, Mureka, and AIVA to generate melodies, harmonies, lyrics, full tracks, album covers, and music videos from text prompts. Notable artistes like David Guetta, Timbaland, and Xania Monet openly use AI in their music creation.

Zvichaita Chete has been a runaway success, receiving airplay on Star FM and hundreds of thousands of views on Facebook, TikTok and YouTube.

Mapfumo admitted, “We never expected it to be this big. When it was introduced in passing by our group leader Joshua Mtima, we actually laughed it off and refused to have it included on our upcoming live album.”

Despite that, the song is topping national gospel charts, showcasing the talent and dedication of the group. 2026 promises more milestones for The Unveiled, a group formed by Mtima and his two sisters before expanding in 2020 for the Old Mutual Amazing Voices Africa competition. They are set to record their second live album on April 25 and continue their Africa tour, with plans to perform in South Africa, Malawi, Namibia, Poland and the United Kingdom, further expanding their local and global presence.
