WHAT about getting a bull and some goats for winning a darts tournament?
Well, that is what awaits the winners in Glendale on Saturday as 32 darts teams from across the country gather for the fourth edition of the annual Mombe Darts Tournament.
The event, now one of the biggest on Zimbabwe’s darts calendar, has drawn teams from Harare, Midlands, Masvingo, Manicaland, Bulawayo, and all three Mashonaland provinces.
Reigning champions Afro Village headline the line-up.
Afro Village boast of a seasoned squad that includes Kudzai Tayero, Rodwell Chidanhamhabwe, Munyaradzi Bwaka, Fire Katena, Pardon Mabika, Redemption Musiyiwa and Sidreck Chebwana.
Organised by the Mashonaland Central Darts Association (MCDA), the tournament has grown steadily each year and continues to draw huge interest from the darts community.
MCDA public relations officer, Privilege Gunyere, said:
“We will have both team and individual events, with winners walking away with a bull and two goats.
“There are also prizes that include two bulls, 17 goats and several chickens for those who make it to the podium.
“The tournament has attracted teams from all over the country, including Bulawayo, Manicaland, Mashonaland Central, East and West, Masvingo, Midlands and Harare.
“The tournament is very crucial for all darts loving players as it helps us come together and socialise away from work pressures.
“It will feature top players who have represented the country at provincial and international level.
“This is one of the biggest tournaments we host as a province apart from the provincial championships.”
