Tilowakuti earns national colours

All-Africa Challenge at Royal Harare at the weekend.
The ZLGU announced yesterday that union president Thembi Moyo advised the Sports Commission that the golfer was now eligible to wear the national colours.
“The President of the Zimbabwe Ladies Golf Union has announced that Tilowakuti has been awarded her colours as a result of her selection to play in the Zimbabwe national team in the recently held Southern Region All African Challenge Trophy.
“The Sports Commission confirmed that she may be awarded her colours at the ZLGU annual meeting which will be held in October.
“Tilowakuti is a product of the ZLGU junior golf programme, and is now a role model for young girls currently in the junior programme,” the ZLGU statement said.
The ZLGU junior golf development programme has produced several young golfers who are playing well and may soon become top class players.
Meanwhile, professional golfers will return to the field in the Cimas Medical Aid invitational tournament at Chapman this morning.
Several golfers will take part in the second tournament of the Zambezi Tour that will see 15 professionals taking part.
Top professionals like Tongoona Charamba, Ignatius Mketekete, Day Muyambo, and the Katembenuka brothers, Mairosi and Simon, are among several players expected to take part.
The first tournament for the Zambezi Tour was the Premier Auto Services Invitational Golf Day, which was held at Royal Harare last month.
Lyford Yadyo of Wingate Park won the tournament after a play-off having finished tied with Julius Kalimazeni on level par 72.
