AFTER missing out on the Roil Bulawayo Arts Awards Outstanding Radio DJ gong last year, radio personality Cde Phil who is nominated again this year, feels this is his time to win.
Cde Phil, who works for Khulumani FM, is nominated with fellow radio personality Thorne LaRock and the Skyz Metro FM duo of Manurse and Mjoks.
The drive-time presenter who has been making a name for himself through presenting at several notable gigs said he was honoured to be nominated for the second year running.
“It feels great to be nominated as it’s my second time. Last year, I didn’t win and I was disappointed. The people nominated me again to be on this year’s list and I thank them for believing in me.
“If it’s time for me to land the gong, then it’s time. There’s a first time for everything and this can be my time, but if it’s not, the nomination on its own means a lot to me,” said Cde Phil.
He said every time he is on radio, his mission is to promote artistes and people from the southern region by giving them a platform to share their stories.
Asked how it feels to be nominated with his workmate, Thorne LaRock, Cde Phil said it is a stamp of approval for Khulumani FM.
“The nomination with Thorne is recognition that Khulumani FM is doing a lot in pushing the arts from the city and region. Thorne who’s a good friend of mine is pushing the hip hop side. He’s a great radio personality,” said Cde Phil.
Voting lines for the RoilBAAs have opened and close November 20 with the awards ceremony slated for November 28.
