Tips on making eyelashes

HELLO there folks, hope you had a great week. I am busy, busy, busy and loving it all. I just think if I am not busy, I get sick. So guess what I am keeping myself busy lol!So many people asked me how do I make my eyelashes look like they are fake lashes (long and separate), using mascara. I must admit I had to think about it for a bit because I have been doing that when I was a model over 15 years ago. But I thought I would give you some timeless tricks I use as and when necessary, hope it helps.

How to soften your hard eyeliner

Hold your kohl eye pencil under the flame of a candle for literally one second, let it cool for 15 seconds, and then watch the consistency change right before your eyes. Once it cools down, glide on your newly made gel liner across the top of your lash line for an instantly smudgier formula, it will amaze you.

How to make a light eye shadow show up

My skin shade sometimes means that some of the shades I buy such as gold or brown, do not show in my skin. So I found a great way to bring the colour out on my skin. First, I take a white eyeliner pencil, and run it over my entire eyelid. The opaque consistency of the liner will intensify any eyeshadow shade and make it pop instantly against my skin.

For the cat-eye look

I draw my cat eye first, and then fill in the open space for a perfect winged liner application every single time. For me this is easier.

A spoon can create the perfect winged liner

Yes, I even use spoons to help me create the perfect look on those special nights. Holding the stem of a spoon against the outer corner of my eye, I draw the straight line as the first step for my cat eye. Then, flip the spoon so it’s hugging my eyelid. I then use the rounded outer edge to create a perfectly curved winged effect.

For that smokey effect

I draw a slanted hash-tag at the outer corner of my eye, and then blend it out with the smudger at the other end of my eye liner-with the tip of my baby finger for an instantly smoky effect.

Mascara smudges on the skin

I hate this and I am sure you do too. To prevent mascara smudges I hold a spoon as if it is hugging my eyelid. I apply my mascara like I normally would. As I sweep the mascara wand against my lashes and back of the spoon, the residue coats the back of the utensil rather than my skin. Another way of preventing smudges on the bottom of the eye, is to place a tissue paper just under the eyelashes. As I brush the mascara over my lashes, the excess goes onto the tissue. How easy is this?

To curl eye lashes easier

Blowing hot air on your eyelash curler will help your lashes curl easier and stay curled longer. It works the same way heat changes the pattern of your hair and holds a curl with a curling iron. To do it, hit the lash curler with your blow dryer until it heats up, wait until it cools slightly but it still warm (you want to be sure not to burn your eyelid skin), and then clamp down on your lashes to curl them.

To make lashes thicker and fuller

Dust on translucent powder in between coating on mascara to plump up your lashes. The translucent powder helps grip the mascara in between coats, leaving you with fuller lashes. Be careful not to get powder into your eyes.

False lash application

On those special occasions when I need False Lashes because I can’t get the extra long lash look naturally, I find applying the glue an issue. So I now apply eyelash glue to false lashes with the tip of a clean bobby pin or hair pin.Use the tip of a bobby pin to evenly disperse the glue along the base of your falsies. Then, wait a few seconds for the glue to get tacky and apply!

For long-lasting  lip colour

I am not a lipstick person, I tend to lick it all off before I get out the door. But when I do have to wear some, I swipe on my lipstick. I then lay a tissue over my mouth, and then dust translucent powder over it to set the colour. This process may seem extensive, but the payoff is worth it. Not only does the translucent powder set the shade, making it instantly long-wearing, but the tissue acts as a shield to your lip colour, protecting it from lightening or losing its vibrancy. (Translucent powder, even though it’s supposed to be clear, still has a subtle white tint to it that can alter your lip shade.)

Use eye shadow pigments to make your own lip shade.

Like I said lipstick is not my thing, but I have my days. So instead of buying lipsticks I will only wear once or twice a year, I simply mix loose pigments with a little petroleum jelly to make my own custom lip gloss. Voilà!

To blot out excess oil

I struggle with an oily T-Zone on my face which is embarrassing because the rest of my face will be dry. So I have found an easy convenient and cheap way to handle it. Use toilet paper and pat it over your skin to decrease any excess oil on your face.

TIP OF THE WEEK

Beauty is not costly if you know the Why of Beauty and not just the How.
