TODA Technologies is emerging as a leading force in Zimbabwe’s fintech sector, leveraging digital innovation to transform transportation, employment and payments while driving financial inclusion and economic growth.
As the global technology landscape evolves, Zimbabwe is making significant strides with home-grown fintech companies at the forefront of digital transformation.
Among these innovators, Toda Technologies stands out for its multi-platform approach, reshaping the nation’s transport, employment, and financial services sectors.
Founded by renowned entrepreneur Mr. Jefta Mugweni, Toda Technologies has quickly established itself as a comprehensive fintech provider.
Its flagship service, Toda Rider, is revolutionizing Zimbabwe’s transport sector, offering an e-hailing platform that competes with established ride-sharing services as it has consolidated about 900 riders across Harare, Beitbridge, Masvingo and Mutare.
Toda Riders operates as a dynamic two-sided marketplace, efficiently matching rider demand with driver supply with drivers using their own vehicles, ensuring flexibility and scalability.
The company’s roadmap includes expanding into deliveries, waste management as well as custom transport solutions.
In a recent interview with The Herald, Mugweni shared his vision for Zimbabwe’s fintech future as the country aims for an upper-middle-income status by 2030.
“We are a fintech company called Toda Technologies, and under our flagship we have Toda Riders, which is an e-hailing transport service. We also have a current project we will soon launch called Toda Freelancers, where we are introducing a modern system for job and service hunting on digital platforms.”
Toda Technologies is set to expand its digital footprint with the upcoming launch of Toda Pay a payment system designed to facilitate both local and international transactions, further integrating Zimbabwe into the global digital economy.
Next week, Toda Technologies will launch Toda Freelancers, a digital platform connecting skilled professionals from both white-collar and blue-collar sectors with clients seeking their services.
“We are building a future where talent knows no boundaries. This is not just another freelancing platform, but a redefinition of how professionals connect, collaborate, and create opportunities in a global community,” Mugweni emphasized.
Toda Freelancers aims to address Zimbabwe’s unemployment challenges by offering dynamic services, projects, and career-building opportunities, thereby contributing to national economic growth.
Toda Technologies’ integrated approach spanning transportation, employment, and payments positions it as a trailblazer in Africa’s fintech landscape, leveraging technology to solve local challenges and scale digital solutions.
