Toddler killed in tractor accident

A DEVASTATING incident occurred in Mutafa Village, Rusape, yesterday morning, claiming the life of a three-year-old child.
The fatal accident took place on September 10 at around 6am at the Muropa homestead.
Acting Manicaland police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka confirmed the tragic incident, which occurred after 20-year-old Kudzai Zvavanhu had parked his Massey Ferguson tractor in the garage before leaving the premises.
At around 9am, the minor approached the parked tractor and pulled the handbrake while standing beside it.
The action caused the tractor to roll down a slope, crushing the toddler in the process. The infant died on the scene.
The accident was reported to Rusape Traffic Police, who attended the scene, and the body of the deceased was ferried to Rusape General Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem examination.
Assistant Inspector Chinyoka urged residents to exercise caution around heavy machinery and ensure such equipment is safely secured, especially in areas accessible to children.
