Tokwana win Jikinya national finals

The finals were held on Friday at 7 Arts in Harare.

The school beat nine other provincial winners to scoop the top award.

Bulawayo’s representatives at the primary schools dance extravaganza was Mkhithika Thebe Primary School who came fourth.

The final competition turned out to be a Matabeleland affair with Ndlovu Primary from Jambezi in Matabeleland North coming third.

Matabeleland South retained the title after having won it last year.

The lucky charm for the province seems to be Tokwani headmaster Luscious Ncube who was head of Matjinge Primary School when it won the competition last year.

In an interview, the treasurer for Naph in Bulawayo, Bongani Sibanda, said the province was happy because Bulawayo had greatly improved compared to previous years.

“I think the province did well this year considering last year we were in the ungraded group. In this year’s competition we had a school representing the province that has been there before and that experience worked to our advantage,” he said.

Mkhithika Thebe was representing the province for the third time after doing so in 2009 and 2010.
