Top seed Lock in winning start

South and Central Junior Circuit on a positive note when he beat Rostron Redge of South Africa 6-2, 6-2 in the second round matches in Pretoria on Tuesday.
The event started on Monday and will end on Saturday.

Lock, who is the top seed in the tournament, received a bye in the first round match while Redge had overpowered Zandre Duvenhage of Namibia earlier on.
Lock will now meet Christian Van Der Burgh of South Africa in the third round games and the winner will progress to the quarter-finals.

However, it was different story for his colleague Ronzai Saurombe as he was knocked out in the second round.
Saurombe had defeated Philip Franken of South 6-4, 6-4 in the his opening match but lost to third seed Matthew Rossouw of South Africa 6-0, 6-4 in the second round.

In the girls’ category Zimbabwe’s players dominated the opening matches with second seed Valeria Bhunu beating South Africa’s Melissa Lang 6-3, 6-1 while Vimbai Ugaro beat Shannon Cox 6-2, 6-4.
Pauline Chawafambira dismissed Lindsay Truscott 6-2, 6-2 to progress to the next round of the tournament. Nicole Dumbujena lost to Natasha Siku of South Africa 6-1, 6-2.
