Top seeds in Super Eight tennis finals

Saurombe dismissed Muvuti in straight sets 6-1, 6-2 to proceed to the finals set for this morning.
The 16-year-old had earlier on defeated Tafadzwa Mahachi in the quarter finals 7-6(5), 6-2.

Saurombe will now fight for the title against Taremeredzwa Mariga who beat second seed Takudzwa Muswere 6-3, 6-7(3), 6-7(3) in a tightly-contested match that saw both players putting up a good show.
Mariga was satisfied with his performance and said he was happy that he eventually managed to win the match.
“It feels great to win. At the beginning I was doing quite well until I lost confidence. I allowed him (Muswere) to gain confidence and he was playing well. But I changed my approach to the to serve and volley and it worked,” said Mariga.

In the boys Under-16 section, the matches are being played in a round-robin basis and Alwyn Mushonga is currently leading after winning all his three matches.
In the girls competition, Tariro Dembo overpowered Wendy Rudhu 6-2, 4-6, 7-5 to reach the finals.
She will now clash with Latifah Yasini who defeated Zarah Finnigan 6-4, 6-4.

Mark Chigaazira will take on Julius Mutetwa in the boys Under-14 finals.
Chigaazira beat Keith Wakatama 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 while Mutetwa defeated Mehluli Sibanda 6-4, 6-4 in the other semi-final match.
In the girls category, Karen Muswere has a date with Karen Machisa in today’s final.

Both players have so far won all their three matches and today’s match will decide the champion.
Tanaka Chabata beat Tinashe Whata 7-6 (4), 6-3 while Valentine Munyawiri overpowered Jason Chigaazira 7-6(4), 6-1 in the boys Under-12 semi-finals.

Chabata and Munyawiri will meet in today’s final.
In the girls section, Munashe Kaome outclassed top seed Kimberly Bhunu 6-1, 6-0 to reach the finals.
In the final, Kaome will take on Beverly Matsiwe who beat Danai Chinamo 6-4, 5-7, 6-2.

In the New Winners tournament’s boys Under-18 section, Takudzwa Tsapayi beat Simba Mtetwa 6-1, 6-1 and Mufaro Mukome dismissed Jorum Mukono 6-3, 6-1.
The girls category had only two players competing and Chloe O’Connor will be crowned the champion today after she beat Micheala Baker yesterday. The boys Under-14 final will feature Farai Mahere and

Bongani Mutetwa while Renneta Zulu dates Arnisha Dhamini in the girls final.
Andrew Kunaka will take on Munashe Mukome in the boys Under-12 final while Faith Ngwari will clash against Takudzwa Garwe in the girls section.
