THE provisional list of horses to battle it out in the Tote Free Race set for Borrowdale Racecourse on 15 December has been released.

The local horse racing authorities, Mashonaland Turf Club finally cast the die by releasing the nominations list. A tricky field featuring eight equines are in the hat vying for a place in the final list. The event will be contested over 1 600m by a field of runners yet to be announced and at stake will be $50 000 in prize money for the winner plus runners up.

The acceptance stage will be held tomorrow, followed by the race card expected midweek, according to racing manager Betina Gurajena.

“We are now waiting for the final list, after that we will print the race card which we expect to be ready by Wednesday,” said Gurajena.

The list of the nominees has been received from the three most influential stables on the turf including Bridget Stidolph who has thrown into the hat the highest number after submitting five names. Trainer Gokhan Terzi has pushed out two nominees while Kirk will be praying that his only nominee sails through. Horses that make it past the acceptance stage will be loaded into the stall gates on Sunday ahead of “battle supremacy”.
