Tottenham lead race to sign Chiesa

TOTTENHAM lead the race to sign Federico Chiesa, while Newcastle remain confident Anthony Gordon will stay with the club and West Ham consider an improved offer for Jhon Duran.

Tottenham lead Liverpool and Arsenal in the race to sign Juventus and Italy winger Chiesa (26).

Newcastle United are confident England winger Gordon will remain at St James’ Park this summer despite interest from Liverpool.  Newcastle boss Eddie Howe has told 33-year-old England full-back Kieran Trippier, who has one year left on his contract and has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia, that he wants him to stay at the club.

West Ham are considering an improved offer for Duran, with Aston Villa holding out for £40 million for the 20-year-old Colombia striker.

Manchester United are back in the race to sign Bayern Munich and Morocco defender Noussair Mazraoui after the 26-year-old’s move to West Ham collapsed.

Mazraoui may look for guarantees over playing time before agreeing to move to Old Trafford.

Tottenham are in talks with Girona to sell Spain forward Bryan Gil (23), who has agreed personal terms with the La Liga club. Manchester United have discussed the possibility of swapping English defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka with Inter Milan’s Netherlands full-back Denzel Dumfries.

Manchester United are set to compete with Fulham and Crystal Palace to sign Chelsea’s English defender Trevoh Chalobah.

Barcelona have reached an agreement in principle to sign Athletic Bilbao and Spain winger Nico Williams on a five-year deal with the option of an additional year.

Arsenal are holding out for a fee of at least 50 million euro (£42 million) for their England forward Eddie Nketiah, who has attracted interest from Marseille.

Los Angeles FC have made progress in their talks to sign Atletico Madrid and France forward Antoine Griezmann (33).

The Major League Soccer side are also close to signing English midfielder Lewis O’Brien on loan from Nottingham Forest.

Manchester City see Bayern Munich and Germany midfielder Jamal Musiala as a potential successor to Belgium playmaker Kevin de Bruyne.

Bayern Munich have increased their offer for 28-year-old Germany centre-back Jonathan Tah, who has one year left on his Bayer Leverkusen contract.

Juventus are set to make an offer to Atalanta for 26-year-old Dutch midfielder Teun Koopmeiners.

Borussia Dortmund have approached Manchester City over a deal for 22-year-old Brazilian right-back Yan Couto, who has spent the past two seasons on loan at Spanish side Girona.

Chelsea are prepared to let 12 more players leave this summer after 25-year-old French defender Malang Sarr’s contract was ended to allow him to join RC Lens. — BBC
