The Ministry of Tourism and Hospitality Industry, in partnership with the Ministry of Environment, Climate and Wildlife, led a major clean-up campaign at the Trabablas Interchange in Harare on Friday, marking the start of Zimbabwe’s Tourism Month activities.
The exercise aimed at promoting sustainable tourism and beautifying key gateways into the country comes ahead of the Sanganai/Hlanganani World Tourism Expo set for this week in Mutare.
Speaking at the campaign on Friday, Tourism and Hospitality Industry Minister Barbara Rwodzi, said the clean-up is part of a broader Government initiative to maintain a pristine environment for both domestic and international visitors.

“This is a campaign in line with the national clean-up programme introduced by President Mnangagwa in 2017. Trabablas, a critical transit point linking South Africa to Harare and beyond, was singled out as a priority area for beautification. Communities nationwide should adopt a culture of cleanliness as a cornerstone of sustainable economic growth and tourism development,” said Minister Rwodzi.
Environmental Management Agency (EMA) Publicity management and environmental educator, Ms Amkela Sidange, said sustained efforts are needed to maintain cleanliness beyond occasional clean-up campaigns.
