A 42-year-old man from Chipinge has been sentenced to prison for his role in a robbery incident involving a traditional healer.

Tafirenyika Jamu, along with his accomplices Tinashe Chisai and Kudzai Gapara, pretended to seek healing services from the victim on 17 September, gaining access to his home.

Kudzai displayed a fake police identification, claiming they were officers and that the healer was under arrest. Tinashe then handcuffed the victim and accused him of performing witchcraft against Kudzai’s wife.

The group took photos of the complainant while he was handcuffed and then took him to D-Plazza compound, where they assaulted him, demanding money. The victim ultimately handed over US$34 and 2,000 Mozambican Meticais.

Jamu has been sentenced to six months in prison for his involvement in the robbery.
