Traffic marshals arrested

Primrose Nyanzero Herald Reporter
Two Chitungwiza traffic marshals appeared in court after they were caught red-handed receiving a $15 bribe for a parking offence. The duo were arrested by detectives who witnessed the incident. Tigere Dandawa and Oswald Nhira, both of Clyna Trading, pleaded not guilty to criminal abuse of duty charges when they appeared before Chitungwiza magistrate, Mrs Yeukai Chigodora.

The duo was remanded to November 14 for further trial. The court heard that on September 8 this year at around 4pm, Lawson Matimbire (46) was driving his car at Makoni Shopping Centre and parked opposite Casper Butchery. When he was doing so he encroached the white lines. Dandawa and Nhira approached him and charged him for breaching Chitungwiza Municipality Traffic by-laws. They ordered him to pay a deposit fine of $50 before demanding a $15 bribe.
