Tragic assault in Harare: 13-year-old boy dies after snack dispute; two arrested in separate murder case

Police are investigating a case in which a 13-year-old Stoneridge Park boy fatally assaulted a colleague following an argument over the sharing of snacks in Harare.

In a statement, national police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident.

“Police in Harare are investigating a case of murder in which a 13-year-old male juvenile died after being assaulted by another 13-year-old male juvenile following an argument over sharing a packet of snacks. The incident occurred on November 28, 2025, in Stoneridge Park,” he said.

In another case, police in Mhondoro are investigating a case of murder which occurred on November 28, 2025, at Chimera Village in Mubaira.

The suspects, Admire Mudimu (35) and Bright Chinamaringa, allegedly took turns to assault the victim, Fred Chimera (57), with their hands, a sjambok, and logs after accusing him of stealing their donkeys.

Mudimu has since been arrested while Chinamaringa is on the run.
