A MYSTERY man met a gruesome end on Friday after being hit by a train at Chinhoyi railway station, sending shockwaves through the usually quiet platform.
The unidentified man, who had no ID documents on him, was killed instantly when he was struck by a moving train at around 4.06PM.
The National Railways of Zimbabwe (NRZ) confirmed the incident, posting a public appeal on their official social media platforms.
“This is a worrying trend. We appeal to members of the public to exercise caution near railway lines to prevent such tragic incidents,” said the NRZ in a statement.
Authorities are still piecing together the events that led to the fatal encounter.
His body was taken to a local mortuary as police launch efforts to identify him.
The fatality adds to a string of recent rail accidents involving pedestrians, raising fresh concerns about safety around railway lines.
