Manchester United are said to be holding out for more than the initial offer for one of their star players.
While it’s understood that Chelsea remain in the race and are deciding internally if they should launch a bid of their own after discussions on the player’s side.
‘Constant contact’
Arsenal are one team said to be looking for reinforcements but none have materialised so far.
Mikel Arteta has said he is in “constant contact” with the club’s hierarchy, while co-chairman Josh Kroenke is currently in the UK having arrived on Monday.
Arteta said: “We are in constant contact, obviously – understanding the situation, how the team is evolving.
“Obviously, some of the big news that we had, unfortunately, they weren’t that positive. How we’re feeling about it, they’ve been super supportive and they continue to be so.”
Arsenal need a striker and have been linked with the likes of Marcus Rashford, Dusan Vlahovic and Benjamin Sesko – but nothing appears closed.
Asked if the owners will back him, Arteta replied: “First of all, it’s backing the club and themselves, you know, because we all want the best.
“The decision that we make is not to back anybody, it’s just something that makes sense, that is going to improve the squad, that is going to give us the ability to perform to a level and to win the things that we want to do.
“If that’s the case and we have the resources to do it, we will try.”
Forest make Cunha ‘top target’
Nottingham Forest have reportedly made Wolves star Matheus Cunha their top target for the month.
The shock Premier League side will have to rival the likes of Arsenal and Man United for his signature.
Sky Sports have claimed that the Brazilian is still considering signing a new contract at Wolves.
Chelsea target Vlahovic
Chelsea are targeting Juventus star Dusan Vlahovic, who has also been linked with rivals Arsenal.
The Blues could lose Christoper Nkunku this month as the Frenchman is seeking more gametime.
According to The Times, Chelsea are eyeing the Serbia international and considering a potential swap deal.
That would see Renato Veiga going to Juventus during the January transfer window.
Deco on Rashford deal
Barcelona director Deco has admitted that a deal to bring Marcus Rashford to the club is not close.
He did suggest there coudl be a chance once current player contract issues are dealt with.
He said: “We are dealing with the issue of [financial] fair-play.
“In the final days, if the team can be strengthened, we will try, but as of today there is nothing.
“The priority is the renewals of the important players in the squad, and then we could focus on one or two reinforcements, but it is not something that the coach has asked of us either.”
Haaland on new contract
Erling Haaland has spoken more on his new contract at Manchester City.
The striker penned a new 10-year contract worth £260million last week.
He said: “Of course it’s a bit unusual and it’s not normal.
“But it’s something I like. In the end it was an easy choice.
“I feel so happy, my family is so happy and in the end that’s what I really wanted.”
Walker nearing exit
Kyle Walker is reportedly nearing an exit from Manchester City.
Reports have claimed that AC Milan have reached an agreement with the Premier League side to sign the defender.
The deal would see Walker move to the San Siro on loan with an “easily attainable option to buy”.
It is thought Walker could be in Milan tomorrow to complete the move. (www.thesun.co.uk)
