TREASURY has disbursed US$5 million to the Grain Marketing Board (GMB) towards settling outstanding payments for

cereals delivered by farmers.

The GMB has since confirmed receiving the money.

In a statement, GMB chief executive, Dr Edson Badarai, said the funding would positively impact the agriculture sector, as it

would enable farmers to invest in their businesses.

“The board is also grateful to the Treasury for this financial support, and appreciates Honourable Minister Dr Anxious Jongwe

Masuka’s support and facilitation on this front. GMB continues to honour the role of farmers and their resilience as the country

gears for the summer season,” said Dr Badarai.
