Zimbabwean business people and artists have come to the aid of musician Trevor Dongo to get him back on his feet after a fire destroyed property at his city apartment last month.

Trevor, who even contemplated suicide over social media abuse, was battling to recover from the incident.

He has moved into the fully furnished flat.

Reports were that the fire was due to a physical altercation between his two lovers, resulting in one of the women lighting up his bed while the other allegedly escaped naked.

Trevor’s friends and fellow musicians, including Mudiwa Hood, Willis Wataffi, Stunner, and Ex Q, among others, were part of the contributors.

The singer shared that the fire started when he was not at home, and upon arrival, he tried to save some valuables, and he sustained some burns, which he is being treated for.

Dongo lost valuables such as clothes, shoes, studio equipment, and important documents.

Mudiwa Hood and his sister, Wanisayi “Mahwindo” Mutandwa, pledged to pay for a one-bedroomed flat fully furnished.

The flat was burnt down on March 21.

“Trevor is recovering well from his wounds especially the ones from the face and upper hand.

“As Mahwindo Foundation we have managed to secure sponsors like Mr Ray Mutadza, Mudiwa Hood, Mr Lovemore Muchemwa and King Alfred (UK) who collectively sponsored us with a two bed apartment with 2 months’ rent paid in Advance. Some Furniture, Studio Equipment and we are hoping more will come.

“As a foundation we always do charity work for many disadvantaged people and people with genuine needs. We have been doing this since 2020 from COVID 19 time

“Adding to that we have our Elderly Widows in Dema, Seke whom we always assist. We also have students we pay school fees for. So this not just about Trevor but what we do as a foundation to help our community,” she said.

Trevor’s mother said she was grateful to the support and all the well wishes.

“I want to thank all the sponsors that helped him get back on his feet, may the lord them all. “Yes he got hurt physically but their scars that will always be with him and I want us all to pray for him to be fine emotionally,” she said.
