A FIRST half brace from Triangle forward Tawanda Muyendi made the difference as Triangle registered a second win over Tsholotsho in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match played at White City Stadium yesterday.
In a game of two halves, it was Triangle who took control of the game in the early stages and small wonder that Muyendi found the first goal for the visitors in the first minute, capitalising on a Danisa Phiri blunder.
The visitors looked threatening on attack with Muyendi proving handful to the Tsholotsho’s rearguard, and it was no surprise when the Triangle striker headed home his second goal for the visitors when he caught a suspect Tsholotsho goalkeeper Chang Mariyoni off-guard in the 22nd minute.
The second half belonged to Tsholotsho who kept the visitors’ backline on the back foot. However, despite all the intense slogging the home side could not find the back of the net.
Triangle virtually threw everyone in defence, successfully defending their 2-0 cushion, and their second placing on the 16-team log.
Kelvin Kaindu, the Triangle coach praised Tsholotsho’s defence, adding that they were aiming to remain on top of the league so as to avoid relegation.
“They are one of the best organised teams in terms of how they defend. We want to fight relegation in a different position from last season, we aim to stay on the top as much as possible,” said Kaindu.
Tsholotsho FC coach Lizwe Sweswe, said although his team was the better side in the second half, they were too relaxed in the first half of the match.
“We were too slow in terms of our reaction especially in the first half, by second half we were already two nil down so there was no need to play a defensive type of play and we performed better,” said Sweswe.
Despite defeat Sweswe vowed that his side would survive relegation.
“I think we will survive relegation, teams are not playing well it’s not only us, save for two or three top teams,” he said.
