Trio appears in court for murder

appeared at Harare magistrates’ courts last Friday charged with murdering Sevenzai Zingamure.
They were not asked to plead to the charge when they appeared before magistrate Ms Anita Tshuma who remanded them in custody to April 16.
They were advised to apply for bail at the High Court because the court has no jurisdiction over such offences.
Prosecutor Miss Ellain Mokora alleges that on March 17 at around 8pm Zingamure was on duty guarding CM Fashions’ premises when he was approached by the three after they jumped over the security wall.
They confronted Zingarume and tied him both his hands and legs using a rope and wire before assaulting him.
It is alleged they kicked and punched him all over the body and left him for dead.
The court heard that the trio broke into the shop through the roof and stole a computer desktop, 21 T-shirts with the CM Fashion Logo, three blue overalls, a green towel, 250 Red Cross badges and a car battery, it is alleged.
Miss Mokora alleged that after looting the property, Mugwenhi, Muchemwa and Kasiya fled the scene leaving Zingamure still tied up.
The following morning, the director of CM Fashion, Mr Charles Gideon, was awoken by his maid, who informed him that Zingarume was groaning in pain.
He told them about the robbers and was rushed to West End Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
A report was made to the police and a post-mortem revealed that Zingarume’s death was caused by head injuries due to severe assault.
