Trio up for attempted murder

THREE men from Hopefountain on the outskirts of Bulawayo have been nabbed after they allegedly ganged up and assaulted a man who had attacked their friend.

Sikhalazo Ncube (28), Thobani Moyo (30) and Steven Ncube (22) appeared before Bulawayo regional magistrate Joseph Mabeza facing a charge of attempted murder. They pleaded not guilty to the charge and were remanded in custody to Friday.

State allegations against the trio are that on 21 September 2024 at Moyo homestead in village D, Mthombothemba area they proceeded to Admire Nyathi’s home and found him sleeping.

They ganged up and started assaulting him claiming that he had assaulted Steven. They took turns to assault him with bricks, iron bars and fists.

As a result of the assault, Nyathi sustained a cut on the head and a swollen chest. He reported the matter to the police and investigations were carried out leading to the arrest of the suspects.

Nyathi was referred to the hospital for medical attention and a medical report was produced in court as evidence.
