SIFRA Supermarket lost goods to three men who produced a fake receipt to claim goods they had not paid for.
Brian Magowa and Sheriff Maguchu appeared before Mbare magistrate Jacqueline Gara facing fraud charges.
They were granted US$30 bail each and will return to court on May 12.
The State said the first man went into Sifra Supermarket in Lusaka, Machipisa, and purchased one perfume and went outside with the receipt.
He then prepared a fake receipt showing that he had purchased four Pure Drop cooking oil boxes and seven Mr Rice cases.
It is alleged that the unknown suspect then went back into the supermarket and acted suspiciously. One of the shop workers went to monitor him on CCTV.
The man tendered the receipt at the exit point and the person checking receipts inquired from the till operator if the goods had been purchased. Sensing danger, the suspect disappeared from the shop. After some minutes, it is alleged that Magowa and Maguchu returned to the shop, with the same receipt, claiming they had been sent by their colleague, who had purchased the items earlier.
The security guard realised that it was a syndicate and alerted the shop manager leading to the arrest of Magowa and Maguchu.
The duo denied the accusations and told the court they were not aware of the charges.
Blessing Chibowere appeared for the State.
