Triple delight for Bulawayo revellers

BULAWAYO music fans are in for a treat today when the city plays host to three highly explosive shows dubbed “The Battle for Matabeleland”. Jah Prayzah, Alick “Zorai Butter” Macheso and Peter “Young Igwe” Moyo backed by Naledi “Slizer” Kaisara are expected in the city today for the separate shows that have already divided music fans. Macheso will be at Jabula Inn in Esigodini and Jah Prayzah will be at Club Royal while Manor Hotel will play host to Young Igwe.

Fans are however questioning the logic of having three high profile shows at the same time and at different venues, with most of them suggesting these musicians should have held shows on separate days or should have staged a joint gig.

“They are losing business because fans now have to choose among the three shows. The other option could have been a big joint show for us like they did at the Chimbetu gala in Harare,” said Nigel Muchohonyi.

In their defence, show promoters Tafadzwa Maridadi and Tapiwa Gandiwa who are hosting Peter Moyo and Jah Prayzah respectively, said it was just a coincidence that they were holding shows on the same day in the same city.

“It is unfortunate that these artistes were both free to accommodate us on Friday in the same city. We were not aware that our shows were clashing. Macheso is in Masvingo tonight (yesterday), he will be here tomorrow and on Saturday he will be in Victoria Falls. It is the same with Peter Moyo and Jah Prayzah.”
