Karoi villagers have apprehended Trymore Tore (37), a local man who had been on the run for 10 days after allegedly killing his wife, niece and village headman during a domestic dispute.
Just before the villagers caught Tore, he attempted to commit suicide by slitting his own throat with a knife.
Tore of Mubairacheni Village allegedly killed his wife Moline Chibayanzara (21) and dumped her body in a pit latrine. Chibayanzara had multiple injuries on the head.
Tore also allegedly killed his 17-year-old niece and buried her body under tree leaves about 60 metres from his homestead. She was found with a swollen head and a deep cut on the forehead.
A blood-stained knife was found nearby.
The third victim, village head Kuwesu Masawu (53) was found buried in a shallow grave behind Tore’s house with a decapitated head and a deep cut on the neck.
Preliminary police investigations indicate that the suspect and his wife had been having disputes that often ended in violence.
The couple was heard quarrelling at their homestead on February 15 and the village head was last seen going there to mediate.
