VILLAGERS in Ward 6 in Bikita South have been thrown a health delivery lifeline after a local private voluntary organisation, WaJosiah Development Trust, opened a state-of-the-art hospital in the Mutikizizi area.
The hospital, which boasts modern health equipment, was built by the trust with assistance from the Zion Christian Church (ZCC Moria).
Speaking at the hospital’s commissioning ceremony, Director of WaJosiah Development Trust, Mr Justin Josiah Mazengwa, said the building of the facility was inspired by President Mnangagwa’s Nyika Inovakwa Nevene Vayo mantra.
Mr Mazengwa said the hospital would serve the Mutikizizi community in Bikita South and other communities in the greater Bikita South hinterland.
“We realised that communities here were walking very long distances to access medical services and, as WaJosiah Development Trust, working closely with the ZCC Moria Church, decided to gift the people of Mutikizizi and the greater Bikita South with a hospital that will cut the travelling distance of patients seeking medical care,” said Mr Mazengwa.
He credited President Mnangagwa for inspiring local Zimbabweans to invest in their own country.
“We are grateful to our President for inspiring us to develop our own country using our God-given resources,” he said.
“Mazengwa Mission Hospital is a product of our President’s visionary leadership that has set Zimbabwe on course to become an upper-middle-income economy.”
Speaking at the same event, Zanu PF Deputy Director of Health and Child Care, Dr Lloyd Makonese, hailed the building of Mazengwa Mission Hospital, noting that it was a tangible fruit of President Mnangagwa’s “Nyika Inovakwa Nevene Vayo” mantra.
Bikita South National Assembly representative Mr Energy Mutodi also paid tribute to WaJosiah Development Trust for improving health delivery in his constituency.
These sentiments were also echoed by the Bikita District Development Coordinator, Mr Bernad Hadzirabwi, who described the opening of the new hospital as a milestone development that will change the health delivery face of Mwenezi.
The commissioning of the hospital was graced by at least five traditional chiefs from across Bikita and senior government and ruling party officials in the district.
