ANYONE Kamuponde, (21) from rural Bindura, who is a beneficiary of the Zimbabwe Prisons Correctional Service (ZPCS) Commissioner General Goodwill Trust Fund, is now a law student at the University of Zimbabwe.

Speaking at the Commissioner General Christmas Carols, Kamuponde narrated his life story and how his life was saved by the Goodwill Trust Fund.

“I lost my mother when I was in Grade 3 in March 2009 and then lost my father in 2010.

“After that, we lived for three years in a child-headed family, with my older sister, who was just 12 years old, and I was just nine.

“Because there was no one to cook for us at home when we got back from school that was 9km away, my sister dropped out of school.”

He said his uncle came to his help in 2011.

“My uncle worked at a farm, and when I reached Form 4, he sold all his cattle and goats to pay for my examination fees.

“I passed with flying colours, but my uncle was unable to help me continue with school.

“The Glamorgean Farm I grew up in was close to the late Commissioner General Paradzai Zimondi’s farm.

“He heard that I got 5As, 3Bs and 1C.

“The Goodwill Trust Fund paid for my A-Levels at Chindunduma One High School,” he said.

He came out with 14 points at A-Level and enrolled for a law degree at the University of Zimbabwe.

“I am very grateful for the unwavering support from the Trust Fund.

“The advice I can give to struggling children out there is that there is a God in heaven,” he said.
