DENDERA exponent, Tryson Chimbetu has embarked on an extensive marketing drive to promote his recently-released album and arguably his best ever, Victory (Ballon D’or) by holding live performances outside Harare.
Tryson, who is son to the late dendera music luminary, Naison, will be performing in the eastern border city for the first time this year at popular entertainment centre, Platinum (formerly Pick and Save) alongside self-proclaimed Zim Dancehall father, Shinsoman tomorrow (Saturday).
The rare combination is set to outclass each other on the stage in front of scores of dancehall and dendera fans expected to throng the venue.
Ballon D’or carries eight tracks with thought-provoking lyrics that are well supported by trademark well-crafted dendera beats.
Chimbetu said his album was inspired by the dendera godfathers, Naison and Simon and even penned a song titled Ndarota which he would be “communicating” with the late duo through dreams.
The heart pounding bass guitar makes the song one of the finest on the album. Other tracks include Joyce, Ndoendepi, Issa Moto and Chihera vhura door.
This is Tryson’s fourth and arguably best arranged album after Bvamuroad, Marxist Revival, Nguva YaChimbetu and Compass.
Shinsoman, affectionately known as Baba Devante, or dancehall father, is also expected to wow a legion of dancehall fans that admire his song-writing skills, husky voice and stage choreography among other notable attributes the Mawaya waya hit-maker possess.
“We are ready for the show. It will be nice to meet our fans there.
“We will take the opportunity to sample new songs from our last and forthcoming albums.
“We last performed in Mutare in October last year and it is good to be back. Shinsoman has been preparing hard for the show so we guarantee them a blissful night,” he said.
Some of Shinsoman’s hits include Sweet Potatoe, Ndanakirwa and Ndakupenga.
