A 33-year-old woman from Tshabalala suburb in Bulawayo, Precious Mushongahande, appeared before Bulawayo West Commonage magistrate Mehluli Moyo facing assault charges.
Mushongahande was granted bail and is scheduled to appear in court again on January 2.
The court heard that Mushongahande assaulted her husband, Mr Thabo Tsoro, after he inquired about her whereabouts.

Prosecutor Ellen Matenga said on December 9 at around 5pm, Mr Tsoro returned home from the shops and found his wife not around.
He then returned to the shops and met his wife on the way, and asked her where she was.
Mushongahande allegedly answered Mr Tsoro saying she was coming from her boyfriend’s place and a violent confrontation ensued. Tsoro then sought refuge at his sister’s house.
“After she told me where she was, I decided to go to my sister’s house as I was angry at her. When I got there, my wife arrived after a few minutes, and without saying anything she started to beat me using a log and fists. She also pulled my private parts,” said Mr Tsoro.
Mushongahande said she acted in self-defence, asserting that Mr Tsoro became increasingly aggressive.
“Whatever I said was just to spite him. I did not mean all that. If possible can you forgive me as I do not know what had come over me,” said Mushongahande.
