HARD HITTING!

This is how one can sum up the latest eight-track album by rhumba artiste Perfect Tsheba Mvundla – Makungahlangani Yeka – which was released last week.

Mvundla’s 13th album was launched in South Africa, where the musician is based, and his many years on the music scene are telling.

With the festive season on the horizon and artistes dishing out albums, Tsheba Boys, the group Mvundla fronts, is in contention for having one of the records to be in demand on the dance floor.

The album is certainly for the dance floor with hard-hitting guitars all round which set the tone for what most rhumba fans want during the festive season – dance.

Produced at fast-rising TK Studios and with Duncan Marabha and Mqhawuleni Stompi Sogwayi on bass, Bramuza Nyathi and Tshanda Ntwetsimnadi on rhythm guitar and Thibosi Nhlansi on lead guitar, rhumba fans will enjoy a complete album.

Besides the title track, other songs on the album include Mezwale, Ingwebu, Connection, Hamb’ uyethatha, Malayitsha Yiqhawe, Ama Tournament, Wayegida So, which is dedicated to Clement Magwaza’s late dancer Bambanani “Tsholobela” Maphosa.

While all the songs in the album could be a hit, the track Ingwebu could be an anthem.

“There are many ways to judge how the album is doing but the most important is sales because people do not buy sub-standard work. Since the release of the album, the sales are pleasing which shows that rhumba fans love what we have produced for them. I’ve been with this team for a long time now and our combination is winning hearts,” said Mvundla.

The artiste, who started recording in 2007, says he trusts the album to carry him throughout the festive season.

He said despite many artistes recording music, he believes his album will stand the heat.

“It is good that rhumba is growing as seen by many artistes recording. That surely raises the bar but if you are an artiste you also want to test yourself among the best and we are certainly up there with this production. I am receiving a lot of requests for Live shows during December and making modalities to see how best we fulfil those,” said Tsheba. – @themkhust
