A 27-YEAR-OLD Tsholotsho man appeared in court for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl after storming into her bedroom while she was asleep.

Siphamandla Sicelo Moyo of Mbambangamandla Line Village appeared before Bulawayo regional magistrate Mr Mark Dzira, facing a charge of rape as defined in Section 65 (1) of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act Chapter 9:25.

He was not asked to plead and remanded in custody to May 28, for trial.
Prosecuting, Mr Jethro Mada told the court that on March 15 at around 9 PM, the accused person went to complainant’s homestead and entered her bedroom hut while the complainant was asleep.

“When the complainant woke up, the accused person closed her mouth with his hand so that she could not scream and raped her,” said Mr Mada.

The complainant informed her parents and a report was made to the police leading to Moyo’s arrest. The complainant was referred to the hospital for medical examination.
