A 29-YEAR-OLD Tsholotsho man has appeared in court for allegedly striking a local villager with a golf stick and indiscriminately stabbing him with a knife following a dispute over a debt.
Lebuhang Matshatsha Ncube of Madlangombe Line in Tsholotsho appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Ms. Sibonginkosi Mnkandla facing an attempted murder charge.
The prosecutor, Ms, Nomthandazo Mafu told the court that on 6 February, the complainant, Accordiness Sibanda (24) was drinking beer at Nemane Business Centre in Tsholotsho when Ncube confronted him over a debt.
The court heard that an altercation ensued between the two during which Ncube picked a golf stick and struck Mr Sibanda all over the body several times.
“The accused further produced a knife and stabbed the complainant several times on the stomach,” said Ms Mafu.
After committing the alleged offence, Ncube fled from the scene, leaving Mr Sibanda lying unconscious in a pool of blood.
The complainant’s father, Mr Mkhumbuleni Sibanda, rushed Mr Sibanda to Tsholotsho District hospital. A report was made leading to Ncube’s arrest.
