TU CLOSE FOR COMFORT

MORGAN GIBBS-WHITE took a leaf out of Eberechi Eze’s book – leaving Spurs to fear their Premier League chapter could be about to close.

This was billed as a relegation six-pointer, given both teams were hovering above the drop zone, Spurs by a point, Forest on goal difference.

But two goals either side of half-time, from Igor Jesus and then Gibbs-White, saw Vitor Pereira earn his first league win as the Tricky Trees leapfrogged their hosts.

Sub Taiwo Awonyi rubbed further salt in the wounds with a clinical, late third.

The strike from Gibbs-White will have been particularly galling as Spurs had come so close to signing him in the summer.

They thought they had triggered his £60million release clause.

But it only served to enrage owner Evangelos Marinakis, who ended up convincing Gibbs-White to sign a new contract.

Gibbs-White was the first of two England playmakers Spurs let slip from their grapes in the summer, with Eze snubbing them at the last minute to join Arsenal from Crystal Palace.

Eze rubbed salt into that specific wound with FIVE goals against Tottenham this term.

And now it was Gibbs-White’s turn to sink his former suitors. – The Sun
