SUPERSTAR Oliver a?Tukua? Mtukudzi has teamed up with legendary South African group Ladysmith Black Mambazo to make a song of the city of Durban.
Tuku and the South African group recorded the song and video for the remake of Black Mambazoas Hello My Baby on 17 May (ABOVE).
Tuku added a Zimbabwean flavour with Shona lyrics.
The collaboration is in line with the new vision of Black Mambazo who were last year chosen as the official ambassadors of Durban.
Through the partnership with the city, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, during their tour all over the world would market Durban as a tourist destination.
Last year the group worked with Salif Keita on an anti-xenophobia song when the KwaZulu Natal province a which Durban is the provincial capital of – became the origins of the wave of attacks on foreigners.
Tuku, who has seemingly made South Africa his second base of operation after releasing a gospel compilation in that country last month, flew to Durban last week for the recording at United Rhythms Studios in Durban with Lady Smith Black Mambazo.
According to Durban Tourism, the video of the song will feature prominent Durban land marks and will be distributed to all South Africaas TV stations and beyond.
This song will also be available on Durban Tourism Digital platforms once completed.
Ladysmith Black Mambazo and Oliver Mtukudzi will also perform the song at an event to be held in Durban later in the year.
